Letter from SCSUNAA President Allen

Monday, July 10, 2023   (0 Comments)

Greetings Bulldogs, Family, and Friends:

We are less than 30 days away from our first in-person convention in four years, and I’m hoping you are excited about getting together in Jacksonville, FL. The Convention Committee has been working hard to create a Convention that will keep you engaged and informed while reconnecting with friends and classmates.

Many of you are aware of the recent bill signed by the Florida Governor banning DEI initiatives in public colleges and have seen the NAACP Travel Advisory regarding travel to Florida. The SCSUNAA supports the NAACP Advisory, and due to our contractual commitments, we must continue our plan to have our convention in Florida. Keeping that commitment and observing the NAACP Advisory will allow us to strongly support the Jacksonville Chapter and the local Black Owned Businesses. We can make a difference and send a strong message with your attendance.

If you have not done so already, please register and encourage other Bulldogs to attend, as we want to see as many Bulldogs as possible in Jacksonville.

 Here’s a look at what’s been planned:

·      A Cultural Center Tour on Thursday, and all funds raised from the tour will be donated back to the Center and serve as our community service. We will also provide a listing of the Black Owned Establishments in the area so that you may support them while visiting Jacksonville.

·      We will have a panel session with university officials, including the Chairman of the Board, the President, Institutional Advancement, Admissions, and Athletics.

·      A Friday Luncheon to recognize the Association’s past presidents.

·      A White Party on Friday evening, Banquet on Saturday evening, and Ecumenical Service on Sunday.

·      Workshops on Estate Planning/Wills, Handling Grief, and a Student/Alumni Panel.

We look forward to seeing you in Jacksonville! Please use the following link below to register. https://www.scsunaa.org/event/2023Convention
