Loyal Son, James C. Burgess II,  is a graduate of South Carolina State University, where he earned a B.S. degree in Industrial Technology in 2008 and a M.S. degree in Transportation Policy and Planning in 2012. James is a life member of the National Alumni Association and a member of the Charleston Chapter where he has served as the chapter’s Treasurer, Technology Chair, Finance Committee Member and 2024 Convention Logistics and Transportation Chair. During his time in college, he developed a strong foundation in leadership and service, which helped shape his professional path. James is a member of the National Society of Pershing Rifles and Edisto Lodge #39.

Currently, James is the Owner and Operator of JCB Transport, where he focuses on day to day operations and transporting hazardous materials across the Southeastern corridor. Outside of his professional career, he is actively involved in the community through participation with the Charleston Chapter SCSUNAA contributing his time and skills to making a positive impact. He also serves as a Board of Director for The Pershing Rifle Group and a board member of D.E.L.T.A Inc. in North Charleston. James’ hobby is racing a vintage motorcycle (1942 Harley Davidson). He won a checkered flag in his second race season (2025). James is married to Shawn Maricia Blake Burgess, a third generation Bulldog.
