Loyal Son, Arthur Williams, son of the late John and Sylvia Davis Williams, is a native of Green Pond, SC. After graduating from Walterboro High School in 1974, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as the Vietnam Era was culminating. During his four years of service to his country, he became one of the first Marines to reach the level of drill instructor in two years obtaining the rank of Sergeant. In 1992, Art earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from South Carolina State University and was an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Prior to enrolling at SCSU, he earned his AA degree from Beaufort Technical College. Art also earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and the Specialist in Education degree in Educational Leadership from The Citadel in Charleston, SC.

Art has over 35 years of executive management experience in government and private sector with demonstrated skills in leadership, motivation, strategic planning, finance, public relations, and career development.

During Art’s years of employment, he was blessed to have worked in several public servant positions including County Administrator for Colleton and Allendale Counties, County Engineer, Public Works Director, Capital Projects Coordinator, Public Affairs Specialist (USDA), and High and Middle School Assistant Principal. He has also served as President/CEO of Meineke Car Care Center, Inc. d/b/a MOJO, Inc. and is currently President/CEO of Resourceful Consulting and Management, LLC.

In 1996, Mr. Williams was elected to the Colleton County School Board and in 2018 Colleton County Council. He also officiated MEAC and Conference USA football for 31 years. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Colleton County Alumni Chapter of SCSUNAA, President of the Hiram E. Mann Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and President of the STATE Club. He maintains Life Membership in the SCSUNAA, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, The Citadel Alumni Association, and the NAACP, receiving the Trailblazer Leadership Award in 2025. Art was a 2020 Stellar Calendar honoree and serves on the Trustee Board at Lighthouse Tabernacle.

Each year, Art dedicates a minimum of two weeks in the Motherland, serving in multiple African countries alongside a medical missionary team through Life Line Foreign Missions, a Lowcountry based non-profit organization.

Art is married to Leila ’86 and they have a son Dr. A. Maurice (Tina) and daughter Sylvia Joy ’07 and ‘10 (Romeo). They have five grandchildren, Noah, Julia, Clara, and twins Yvonne and Chevron.
