Loyal Daughter, Pamela R. Butler , a proud 1989 graduate of South Carolina State University, holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She later earned a Master of Science in Human Resource Management in 1991. As a student Pamela become a member of Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha (87’). Pamela is currently the President of the Greater Columbia Chapter of the South Carolina State University National Alumni Association, Pamela has an unwavering commitment to advancing the mission of her alma mater.  Her leadership extends to the national level, where she serves as Co-Chair of the Audit Committee and a key member of the Scholarship Committee.

With a robust 37-year career in finance, Pamela has excelled in roles ranging from Budget and Financial Analyst to Treasury Accountant and Auditor. Her professional journey includes impactful tenures with the State of South Carolina and Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, where she currently serves as a Medicare Cost Report Auditor II. A versatile professional, she is also a Premium Auditor specializing in Workers' Compensation for government agencies, and has maintained successful careers as a Licensed Real Estate Sales Agent (29 years) and Licensed Insurance Agent (20+ years).

Pamela is the proud mother of two: Brianna (Aszah), an Airman in the South Carolina Air National Guard, and Kenya, a Junior Agribusiness major and full-scholarship recipient at SCSU. Kenya has maintained a continuous A/B academic average her entire Bulldog career.

For Pamela, the "Bulldog Legacy" is a family tradition. As Kenya is following in Pamela’s footsteps, Pamela follows in the footsteps of her mother, Suester R. Johnson (’64), a charter member of the Sumter Alumni Chapter. For Pamela, being a "Bulldog" is a sacred family tradition that spans generations and branches of her family tree. through her Aunt Mary (’65) and her Uncle Nate (’75), who met his wife, Carrol (’75)(Beta Sigma, AKA) on campus. The tradition continued with their sons, James and Bryan. The torch was carried by Pamela’s niece, Khadijah (’16) (Beta Sigma, AKA) , as well as Alisa (93’)

Through her service and her family, Pamela remains deeply committed to fostering the next generation of excellence at South Carolina State University.
