South Carolina State University (SCSU), a Historically Black University (HBCU) founded in1896, has maintained a
legacy of excellence in education. We are home to generations of scholars and leaders in business, military
service, government, athletics, education, medicine, science, engineering, and technology. As a land grant
university, our mission is simple— to educate and serve the citizens of South Carolina and beyond.
The South Carolina State University Alumni Band Association (ABA) requests your generous support for it's concert
gala, An Evening w/ Charlton Singleton & Contemporary Flow, to be held Friday, May 19, 2023 at 7pm at the
Medallion Conference Center, 7309 Garner's Ferry Road, Columbia, SC. Charlton is a 1994 graduate of South
Carolina State University with a B.A. in Music Performance and a two time Grammy Award Winner with his band
Ranky Tanky.

Since our founding 35 years ago, the Alumni Band Association has awarded a multitude of scholarships to young
men and women who are among the best and brightest in the South Carolina State University Band Program. These
students are all from different areas all over the United States. We have also assisted in providing:

● Scholarships for books and other school fees
● Housing aid
● Care packages
● Stipends, and Band Aid to assist with student’s daily needs
● Assistance with repairing instruments.
● Assistance with purchases of uniforms for the SC State Marching 101 Band
